ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAMS

Reading/Writing

Your child will explore and practice various literary writing styles in these essential courses.  Classes will teach the six basic traits of excellent writing: voice, organization, sentence structure, fluency, grammar and punctuation, as well as critical thinking skills. These customized courses are appropriate for both high school and middle school students.

Classes are flexible in size and customizable based on need.

Classes include:

Daily Writer's Workshop
This course will focus on the basics of grammar, fluency, and style, in addition to the various forms of writing, which include: persuasive essays, creative short stories, and editorials. Students may sign up on an as-needed basis, or they may sign up for a week-long or month-long session.

Reading & Writing Camp
The Reading & Writing Camp will help students to sharpen their skills in a small group setting. Students will study the various forms of written expression through reading age-appropriate texts and writing creative and expository pieces. Students will also practice brainstorming and writing pieces based on ISEE writing prompts.

Creative Writing Club
Make revisions to your favorite pieces, get ideas from your peers, and experiment with writing in different genres under the guidance of a writing mentor. Summer members will also be invited to participate in naming the club and publishing our literary magazine.
